Luke 10:38-42
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

What Mary chose was time with the Lord, while Martha ran around like a crazy person trying to clean the house and prepare food. All those things are important, but in the whole grand scheme of things, Jesus is the most important of all. How often do we act like Martha? I know that I act like Martha a lot. My brain sometimes cannot rest until I have cleaned the house 20 times, organized myself for work, cleaned some more, organized something else, done laundry, emptied the dishwasher, and done all the other mundane things we do daily. I know there are times when God is watching me saying softly, "slow down Danielle!" I challenge myself this week to truly slow down and spend time with God. For in God, we can find peace. I want nothing more than to be completely in love with Christ, trusting him with my every move and following in the path he has set forth for me. I know I can't do that on my own; I have to choose Mary in this situation. I have to choose time with God before anything else.
